Sorry for the late posting. Work is a little insane at the minute. Today was parents observation day so I had lots of parents watching nervous students on their best behaviour (mwahaha).
So my contribution is a bit serious! Please check out the other participants today for their take on the word ‘Resolution’:

Let me know if I’ve forgot to add you! I’m also tagging Katy for next week!
Anyway, today’s word is ‘Resolution’. I like Weekwords that could have more than one interpretation so this week should be interesting. Personally I’m going to take the meaning ‘the mental state of being resolved or resolute’. We’ve just passed the 9 month anniversary of the quake and tsunami here in Japan. In some ways it seems like it was ages ago but at other times it feels like yesterday. What has impressed me most about the Japanese people is their determination and resolve to go on, rebuild and recover. In the weeks and months (and I suspect years) following the disaster slogans about strength and perseverance were all over the TV, newspapers, adverts and even signs outside businesses and peoples homes. As well as ‘Ganbarou’ which is usually translated as ‘Let’s do our best’, there have also been some English slogans which used to be only used in the context of sports: ‘Fight!’ (which really means ‘Try hard’) and ‘All for one, one for all’. I took a trip along coast last weekend to see Matsushima, one of the top 3 views of Japan, and on our way to a view point we passed through one of the areas that had been really badly hit by the tsunami.
It still amazes me that after all that happened people can pull together and find the strength to move forward and rebuild. So this slogan for me signifies resolution:

Lovely post Emily. The human spirit really is indomitable isn’t it?
Lovely post – thanks for sharing! I’ve just posted my Weekword post. I knew I’d be late but not this late!
